Dave's professional journey

I majored in math at Wesleyan University, then spent two years in Thailand teaching English before coming home to teach math, meditation, and brain exercises to senior citizens.

I started my Positive Psychology Coaching practice in 2014 while still in the classroom. In 2018, I graduated from Columbia University with an M.S. in Neuroscience & Education and moved

into full-time coaching — both career coaching (job interviews) and life coaching (habits). Along the way I picked up additional training as a yoga teacher, an Imago couples therapy coach, and a Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy coach.

Since 2023, I've been focused on one question: how much momentum and transformation can a single coaching hour actually produce? Q: How many sessions do you need?

One session is complete on its own. A focused hour of significant inner and outer progress. Some clients come back for more when new challenges come up. There's no pressure at the end of the session. If continuing together feels right, that conversation is available.

Q: How do you customize a mediation and challenges instantly?

I have created a proprietary app (Self Science) that uses AI to generate 5 personal breakthrough challenges and a custom meditation script for you. It is all based on my session notes. So yes, it happens instantly during the session.

Q: Can't I use AI as a life coach instead of paying a human who uses AI?

You can do similar versions of everything done in the Breakthrough Hour session, using only AI. It's a smart computer, but at some point in the conversation, you will remember that it's not human.

Without a human to interpret and improvise around the AI, you're still working on your issues alone.

In the Breakthrough hour, the first part is purely human coaching. Clarifying your issues and needs. Uncovering your blind spots.

The 2nd part of the session uses AI to create 5 custom breakthrough challenges for you. You could get AI to create behavioral tasks or habits for you, and you may like them. Self Science has a proprietary set of prompts that creates research-based challenges to create behavior change as quickly as possible.

The 3rd part of the session is a custom meditation based on my notes from the session. Self Science AI writes a script for me, which I improvise around as a professional meditation teacher.

You could get AI to create your own meditation around any topic, and even have it read the meditation to you, but again, at some point in the experience, you will probably remember that it's not a human voice.

You should absolutely use AI for anything that helps you. If you don't care about having the support of a real human, then AI is a great and cheap alternative.
